The SMS Weather Forecast is a small yet very beneficial application. This application sends an SMS to every mobile number in a given list. The SMS consists of the weather forecast for the location associated with each mobile number. An ad is appended to the weather forecast.
For each mobile number in the list, the application retrieves the associated user profile from the Adhere User Profiles Server then requests a targeted text ad for that user from Adhere Ad Server. The application then creates an SMS that starts with the weather forecast followed by a separator then the ad received from Adhere Ad Server. Finally, the application sends the message to the mobile number via
Clickatell SMS Gateway.
A script can be written to run the application periodically, e.g. daily.
Mobile Operators or Mobile Content Providers can use this application as a basis for a daily ad-sponsored weather forecast service that can be offered either for free or at a discounted price to their mobile subscribers.
